Magic Bloodstock Racing manager, Mr Peter Tighe has confirmed that the 5 year old ‘Makin’ the Grade’ will race this weekend in the colours made famous by 7 year old mare, WINX.
Makin’ the Grade was purchased by co-owner of WINX, Peter Tighe and company at the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival’s Magic Millions Tried Horse sale this year. Mr Tighe was in the Northern Territory as part of a panel of speakers for the Let’s Talk Racing industry luncheon.
“It’s Makin’ the Grade’s first run this weekend since we purchased him in the NT this year, so I’m not sure how he will go but it will be a good race to watch”
“We’re very happy to have WINX colours racing in the NT as we lead into the Cox Plate next weekend” Peter said
Visiting jockey from Western Australia, Michelle Hagley will be riding the Gary Clarke trained horse for its first ride under the new ownership.
A local and Darwin Turf Club board member, Michelle Graham was happy to become a part owner in Makin’ the Grade
“It’s very exciting to have the colours of WINX race in the Top End especially on a horse that I partly own along with Peter and a great group of Interstate Racing Identities.”
“It’s fantastic to have such an icon in Peter Tighe support Darwin Racing!” said Michelle Graham.
Makin’ the Grade will race in race 3 at 4.10pm at the Cancer Council NT’s Caulfield Cup Race Day this Saturday. Gates open from 10am.
