Purpose
The purpose of Darwin Turf Club’s Member Code of Conduct is to provide guidance on the standards of conduct expected of Darwin Turf Club (DTC) Members and their Guests to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment in keeping with the history and traditions of our Club. The Member Code of Conduct draws on aspects of the current DTC Constitution and is intended to cover expectations of Members at all times whilst accessing the Club, including events onsite and offsite, or when representing the Club interstate or overseas.
Member Behaviour
Members are requested to behave in a manner that is respectful and considerate of their fellow Members, other patrons and DTC staff. Any Member engaging in conduct that is unbecoming of a Member may bring action from DTC Supervisors and Security staff and be subject to disciplinary action.
This type of conduct includes, but is not exhaustive:
- Not adhering to DTC policies, signage or directions from staff or their representatives
- Behaviour that impacts on the experience, safety or wellbeing of other patrons or staff such as:
- Offensive, bullying or discriminatory
- Intimidating, boisterous or aggressive
- Drunk or disorderly
- Unwelcome or uninvited physical contact
- Sexual harassment
- Continued or unreasonable disruption of staff performing their duties
- Obstructing thoroughfares or movement of patrons or staff
- Any conduct that is unlawful or unsafe
Members are responsible for their own behaviour and that of their Guests. Members can assist in maintaining a harmonious environment by notifying staff of any instances of unseemly behaviour.
Membership Cards
Member cards are not transferable and are for use by the Member only. A Member may be required to show their Membership card to gain entry to DTC venues, Members Clubhouse and the Members Lawn on select days. Misuse of Member cards may result in suspension or cancellation of Membership.
Member Dress Regulations
Members and their Guests are expected to comply with Member Dress Regulations as set out on the DTC website. Dress regulations are reviewed by the Board from time to time and communicated to Members.
Failure to comply with Dress Regulations may result in exclusion from the Members areas and is at the discretion of staff.
Member Seating
As per all racecourses, there is limited internal and external space in prime locations or popular areas to meet the demand on major race days. Members are respectfully asked to apply fairness to the ‘first in, best dressed’ seating or spaces so that their fellow Members and their Guests can also enjoy these prime spots.
Members are requested not to bring any external food for consumption within indoor areas at the DTC where catering is provided, including picnic baskets and platters, unless prior approval is obtained. A picnic lunch is permissible only in the outdoor areas.
Penalties
DTC management will investigate any observed or alleged misconduct from the DTC Member Code of Conduct and take appropriate action. Action may include refusal of entry or ejection from the venues or event. Following this, the Club may take further action resulting in a formal warning of suspension or expulsion from Membership.
