NOIR DE RUE SNATCHES RACE ON LINE

Veteran Noir De Rue, having his first stat since early March, stormed home from last at the 500m mark to down last year’s winner Masterati in a thrilling renewal of the $30,000 TAB ROANT Gold Cup feature race at Fannie Bay on Saturday.

Trained and co-owned by Jason Manning and with regular rider Vanessa Arnott in the saddle, the rising nine0year-old, who has finished this and fourth in the last two Darwin Cups, showed he will be a force to be reckoned with again this year with a tremendous home straight sprint.

Masterati led the field at a solid clip, with stablemates Wolfburn and Siakam his pursuers along with Sanblas and Latest Bentley. Approaching the home turn, Masterati seemingly had his rivals off the bit and Noir De Rue would have been eight to 10 lengths away and under a hard ride.

However, Arnott stayed towards the inside, made up a good deal of gound from the turn to the 100m, and when the leader was stopping, Noir De Rue was at his strongest….
