Nominations are now open for the 2020 Top End Racing Awards.

To be hosted at the Darwin Turf Club, the awards celebrate the achievements of both horses and participants within the industry and recognise their continuous efforts in contributing to the successful year that was.

Darwin Turf Club chief executive Brad Morgan said after a particularly challenging and uncertain year, it was a great time for industry to share their successes and provide for a memorable evening in showcasing the 2020 racing season.

“We raced in a complete quarantine zone and our industry from strappers to trainers and jockeys were instrumental in that being successful,” he said.

“Their diligence and cooperation deserve reward and recognition so we’re looking forward to the night.”

This year the Darwin Turf Club will include the Character of Racing Award which has been extremely popular in the past with several notable quiet achievers of the industry being nominated by their peers.

“We wanted to recognise some of the characters which kept us all going through what were some pretty tough times so we are excited to bring this back within this year’s program,” Mr Morgan said.
