Dizzy Miss Lizzy signed off her racing career in the best possible fashion with a dominate all-the-way win in the Sky Racing handicap at Fannie bay on Saturday.

The Gary Clarke-trained 6yo mare, with Sonya Wiseman in the saddle, never gave her rivals a chance, going straight to the front from the outset of the 1200m and hitting the line in a time of 1:08:88 to win by 2 3/4 lengths from stablemates Syncline and Captain Hedderwick.

The well-bred mare – she is a daughter of super stallion I Am Invincible from the Group 2 and Group 3 placed producer Princess Marizza (by Scenic) – was sold by her ownership group, led by trainer’s wife Sharlene, to Seamus Mills Bloodstock some months ago, but was able to keep racing until retirement.

She was a valuable broodmare proposition, bred the way she is, and with a record of six wins and 16 placings from 38 starts. Her stake earnings reached $153,790 with Saturday’s win.

Hardy performer El Sicario took his earnings through the $300,000 barrier with an impressive victory in the TAB Lighting Series Handicap (1300m).

Trained by Pat Johnston and with Adam Nicholls having his only ride for the day, El Sicario benefited from a solid speed in the early and middle stages, and stormed home to beat Savaspur and pacemaker Overruled by almost five lengths and more.

Cowley’s Creek (Nicole Irwin/Vanessa Arnott) gained a well-deserved win in the Balton-Rex Handicap (1300m). The 6yo’s last couple of runs have been in far stronger company, but back to 0-58 grade, he came from last on the turn right along the inside to collar Jet Jackson and Mr Boomjangles in the shadows of the post.

Cometh The Hour (Garry Lefoe/Paul Shiers) keep the good run of Darwin Tried Horse Sale graduates going when breaking maiden ranks in the TAB Long May We Play Maiden, scoring by almost three lengths from Kick It Baby and Malibu Edition.

And Don’t Wait (Tayarn halter/Stan Tsaikos), sold through the 2019 Darwin tried Horse Sale, showed his rivals a clean pair of heels in the Advanced Clean Air Handicap (1100m), scoring by 1 3/4 lengths from Light And Dark and Wild Rover.
