The Darwin Turf Club are pleased to announce that tickets to the Territory’s largest sporting and social event, the 2016 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival, will go on sale from 9am tomorrow, Wednesday 9th March.
Over 40,000 people are expected to revel in the tradition, pageantry, and style that decorate Carnival time, and with over $1.95 million in prize money on offer and over fifty races in July and August, the Top End comes alive in the celebration of thoroughbred racing.
In its Diamond Jubilee, 2016 will see the 60th running of the Darwin Cup with the Turf Club honouring the event’s history throughout the year, bringing the nostalgia of the Cup to the forefront of celebrations. Patrons are encouraged to reflect on the style of decades past in 2016, with this year’s theme being a ‘vintage twist’.
Whether it’s taking the kids along to the Asian United Food Service Family Day, enjoying the fun and frolics of Bridge Toyota’s Ladies Day or basking in the excitement surrounding the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup, Carnival time offers something for everyone.
General Admission prices will remain the same as 2015 pricing, along with a welcome inclusion of a premium style champagne bar, the ‘Pearl Bar’. This year’s ‘Atrium’ ticket holders will experience the best views on track for the bet365 Palmerston Sprint Day and the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Day.
Darwin Turf Club CEO Keith Stacy is thrilled about the forthcoming Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival, focusing on historical celebrations of the Cup and it’s stronghold in the Territory community. “On behalf of the Darwin Turf Club Board, Management and Staff, I am very pleased to announce that tickets for the 2016 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival will go on sale tomorrow”, he said. “With some exciting new additions to ticket options and the ever growing popularity of surrounding Carnival events, this year is going to be one to remember with the 60th Anniversary of the running of the Darwin Cup”, Mr Stacy said.
