Silks Darwin has cleaned up at the NT Hospitality Awards, winning three major awards among some of the Territory’s biggest and best venues.
Darwin Turf Club and Silks Darwin chief executive Brad Morgan said it was an outstanding achievement for a venue which had been open less than one year.

“Silks only opened on June 5 last year, so to win these awards against some of Darwin’s biggest and best venues is an achievement for the entire team here,” he said.

“The Board of the Darwin Turf Club also needs to be acknowledged for their courage and initiative developing the plans for this venue several years ago which have now come to fruition and will for many years support the Darwin Turf Club and Alice Springs Turf Club.

“Credit also goes to our duty managers, kitchen staff, front desk and food and beverage attendants who all work hard day and night to ensure the level of service delivery continues to the high standard our members have come to know and expect.”

Mr Morgan said the success of the venue spoke for itself.

“In the first six months, we had more than 10,000 members join, which is astounding for a club in Darwin, and now Silks boasts more than 12,000,” he said.

“Our connection to thoroughbred racing has been a big driving point, but we also have a successful gaming room, restaurant, bar and sports bar with TAB area which members enjoy.”

Silks Darwin took home:

  • Best New Venue
  • Best overall Large Club; and
  • Best Club Gaming Venue

Mr Morgan said exciting plans were in place for Silks Darwin’s first birthday over June with several promotions and events taking place over the next few weeks.

“In celebrating our first birthday, it gives us a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to all of our members and supporters who have been with us on this journey,” he said. “This is a very exciting venue, and we look forward to continuing to provide a great experience to both locals and visitors to the city of Darwin long into the future.”
