Ten-time champion trainer Gary Clarke had a day out at Fannie Bay on Saturday, sending out four winners highlighted by Sialam’s win in the $30,000 Ladbrokes Adelaide River Cup.

Clarke and his team, including stable rider Jarrod Todd who bagged a treble, were in scintillating form, and Siakam’s all-the-way win in the feature over 1600m was the icing on the cake.

Todd sent the topweight, with 60kg, to the front from barrier five, controlled proceedings and then had enough in reserve to hold his rivals, headed by Ironedge, by a length-and-a-quarter, with 10-year-old Smuggling holding third and Boom Sweet close up next.

Siakam has been a revelation in Darwin, coming to the Top End as a maiden and Saturday’s win was his eighth from 29 starts. He also scored in the St Pat’s Cup in March, and Clarke indicated that he could tackle some of the feature miles during the upcoming Darwin Cup Carnival.
