Named in honour of the late Jim Drummond, a former president of the Bernborough Club and a great friend to all in racing, the Jim Drummond Memorial finish was befitting of a man who loved the sport as much as Jim did.

Super Famous provided popular trainer John Peacock and his good mate Adam “Chippy” Nicholls with an overdue win in the TRNT Off The Track Handicap (1200m).

Peacock, who has been coming to Darwin from South Australia for the carnival for many years and has had his share of success with a Derby (Flying Tormenta, 2015) among his triumphs, has had a good association with Nicholls, who had gone 24 rides during the carnival without a win.

But that all changed when Super Famous began well, chased Patriotic King around the home turn and wore him down to win by just under two lengths. Ye Hella finished well to tale second, two lengths clear of a tiring Patrioctic King
