Star Magnum began well in the SILK Laser Clinics Handicap (1100m) and proved too strong for his three pursuers.

He reached the line just under two lengths clear of Ideas Man, who never stopped trying, with Rising Sphere third. The favourite, Shirshov, was withdrawn at the barrier after getting himself into an awkward position. Thankfully, he escaped injury in the mishap.

Emma Lines was at it again when Nokondi led from start to finish in the Toyota Finance Handicap (1300m).

The five-year-old son of Nicconi began like a bullet, and had his rivals stretched out by halfway, pursued by topweight Archie James.

But Although tiring late, Nokondi never looked like being overhauled, holding on to win by a half-length from Freddy The Eagle, who hit the line strongly, with Equal Balance third and Archie James a battling fourth.
