KAONIC provided his Kyneton trainer Neil Dyer with a third Bridge Toyota Cup win in Wednesday’s Bridge Toyota Ladies Day fetaure at Fannie Bay, but the popular trainer was nowehere to be seen.

Dyer was not in the Top End but back in Victoria, and it was left to his son James to receive the congratulations after saddling up the seven year-old son of Savabeel for his first win in almost two years.

Kaonic’s previsou win was when he was trained by Chris Waller.

Dyer Sr said: “When we got him off Chris, we put him out in the paddock with another horse, who kicked him in the knee. It has taken a long time to get him right and I thought this year he’d come into his own after racing last year”.

Kaonic ($17) ran fourth in the 2011 Darwin Cup and prefaced a bold showing on Wednesday by finsihing a solid third to Tugga War over 1600m on the first day of carnival.
