IT may have taken all day and six rides, but in the final Jade Hampson brought up her 50th career win with a beautifully judged ride aboard Hettinger in the Ladbrokes Handicap at Fannie Bay on Saturday.

Hettinger, trained by Kyneton maestro Neil Dyer, bounced to the front from the 1600m barrier but was annoyed on the outer by Boogie Nights for the first 1200m.

The four-year-old shook off that rival as the home turn loomed and was able to kick away to win by more than six lengths from All Hard Wood, with favourite Bel Suono third.

Hampson, 19 is apprenticed to Tayarn Halter, and has had a meteoric rise since gaining her license to race ride in April 2022. She rode a winner in her first race before suffering a couple of injuries and then spending a three-month loan period in South Australia…
