PLAYOFFS put himself firmly in Darwin Cup discussions with a dogged Chief Minister’s Cup victory in the feature event on Day 2 of the Darwin Cup Carnival at Fannie Bay on Saturday.
Having his first start in the Top End, the former Ciaron Maher/David Eustace-trained five-year-old son of Tavistock gave trainer Gary Clarke his fourth Chief Minister’s win, while jockey Jarrod Todd bagged his second.
“It’s a good lead-up for sure” Clarke said. “I was a bit worried on the home turn, but he showed his class and certainly has plenty of fight. He’ll go straight to the Cup now.”
