TEEN NEEDS ONE WIN FOR MILESTONE

Jade Hampson crept closer to a notable milestone when guiding Ideas Man to a dominant all-the-way win in the Darwin Cup Carnival Tickets on Sale Handicap, the feature event at Fannie Bay on Saturday.

Ideas Man, from an inside gate, found the front when Cyclonite was slowly into stride, and from that point Hampson controlled proceedings expertly. The son of Brazen Beau had his rivals off the bit on the home turn and he was never really rested in the straight, scoring by almost four lengths from topweight Syncline, with Bat Pad a length away third.

Hampson, 19, took her career win tally to 49, and the 2kg-claiming apprentice has been in hot form, with victories in both the Top End and Red Centre, and a history-making triumph in the Alice Springs Cup aboard Write Your Name.

Ideas Man, from the Chris Nash stable, had gone winless since putting a hat-trick of victories together in the Top End in June and July last year, but allowed a free rein in front, he showed his best form on Saturday…
