ALICE SPRINGS apprentice Lek Maloney was the toast of Fannie Bay on Saturday when on his first day’s riding in the Top End he bagged a race-to-race double courtesy of New Roman and One For Anna.

Maloney, 19 has only been race riding since last October and before Saturday, had saluted twice in the Red Centre from 3`1 rides.

He came to Darwin early last week to experience the different surface and shape of the Fannie Bay track, riding trackwork before his race day debut in the Top End.

After his first ride Against The Tide finished down the track, Maloney really hit his straps in the Ladbrokes Summer Sprint Series (Ht 4) Handicap (1100m)…
