Gary Clarke has achieved just about everything in Territory racing.

But on day three of the Darwin win Cup Carnival, he won his first Bridge Toyota Cup – and saddled the trifecta – when Wolfburn gave his rivals a galloping lesson in the R50,000 feature on Wednesday.

Clarke sent out three runners, and his daughter Ella one, and they finished 1-2-3-4, but Wolfburn was a class above the others. Beautifully ridden by Jarrod Todd, who was lucky to escape injury in the first on the day when Shirshow played up at the gates, Wolfburn went straight to the front from the 1600m start, and had a soft lead as he made his way into the back straight.

He was joined by Boom Boom Sweet and Bat Pad three-wide, but never gave up the fence and at the 600m, upped the ante and got clear of the chasers.

Todd went for home on the point of the turn and after such a gorgeous run in front, had plenty in the tank, bolting clear to win by just over two lengths from Great Diviner (Mark Pegus), with Loveplanet (Adam Nicholls) a half-length back and Ironedge (Alice Lindsay) next.
