The Darwin Turf Club is excited to welcome 27-year-old local, Rochelle Adams as the 2018 Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador. Ms Adams will bring a new direction to the Ambassador role as an ex-jockey and current bloodstock assistant; whilst still holding up the tradition’s of the glitz and glamour that is the Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador. As the Carnival’s 13th Ambassador, Ms Adams will embrace the ‘Carnival of Colour’ for its second year at the Northern Territory’s largest sporting and social event, the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival.
“The Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival is the ultimate relaxed racing experience. In the height of the Dry Season, Darwin is buzzing with its one-of-a-kind energy and bringing that vibe track side creates an atmosphere that cannot be missed. I’m excited at the opportunity to put my stamp on it!” she continued.
“I live and breathe Thoroughbred Racing! I’m so passionate about the exciting atmosphere and would love to be involved in bringing the next generation onto the lawns to showcase what an experience this carnival is”, said the newly appointed Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador.
“After my accident, quitting the industry was not an option in my eyes. Since then I have been focused on a new pathway, being the 2018 Ambassador will expose me to a new life in racing.” she said.
Being the Ambassador of the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival is a very sought after role, with over 25 applicants received for the 2018 position.
“Rochelle is taking on the significant title of the Carnival Ambassador and its many diverse roles. She will play an integral part in the exposure and promotion of the event, becoming the face of the annual celebration of Thoroughbred Racing in the Top End. We’re excited to see her flourish in as the 2018 Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador”, says Darwin Turf Club Marketing and Sponsorship Manager, Natalie Moss.
This year, The Darwin Turf Club is pleased to announce Maria Kokoroyianis from Maria Ko Ko designs as the Ambassador stylist. Mrs Kokoroyianis will co-ordinate the outfits of the Ambassador for the 8 days of carnival as well as surrounding events, such as the Qantas Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball.
