The 2017 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador has been announced as 29 year old Gina McDermott. Ms McDermott’s poise, confidence and personable nature cemented her place in the top spot, in what was an extremely competitive application process. The Carnival’s 12th Ambassador, Ms McDermott will be the face of the largest sporting and social event in the Northern Territory, which in 2017 will be celebrating the ‘Carnival of Colour’.
“I’m overwhelmed and honoured to be representing the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival and its many surrounding events, especially with the exciting news that 2017 will be the ‘Carnival of Colour”, said newly appointed Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador Gina McDermott.
“I look forward to bringing my cheerful and lively personality to the role, and sharing my enthusiasm for fashion and its representation amongst the racing scene. Supporting and showcasing the wares of local milliners, retailers and designers are huge components of the Ambassador’s responsibilities, and I’m very excited about the opportunity to work alongside the industry”, she said.
“The Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival brings together the wider Top End community and draws in thousands of interstate and overseas visitors. I’m delighted to be involved with an event so unique and special to the Territory”, Ms McDermott said.
Taking on the significant title of Carnival Ambassador and its many diverse roles, Ms McDermott will play an integral part in the exposure and promotion of the event, becoming the face of the annual celebration of Thoroughbred Racing in the Top End.
In her third year as Ambassador Stylist, the Darwin Turf Club is very pleased to announce that Jo Moo will once again be co-ordinating the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival Ambassador program, and in this year’s ‘Carnival of Colour’ celebrations, will bring the vibrant theme to the forefront of trackside events.
