Signing in for your shift or if you are running late or not able to attend your shift
All staff are asked to arrive 15-30 minutes before their start time to ensure you have enough time to get changed, be signed in and be delivered to your location. Please enter through the "Staff Entry Gate" on each race day which is located next to the big roundabout near Gate 2 on Buntine Road Fannie Bay.
If you are running late or not able to make your shift, please SMS one of the following numbers :
- 0447 879 725 for all departments except TAB
- 0447 197 996 for TAB Staff
Darwin Turf Club does not supply meals for staff during shift on race days. A kiosk is open on track during race days for purchase of food items. Staff are not to eat off platters or eat leftovers unless supplied by the Food and Beverage Manager or Head Chef in the function. Drinks such as water and post mix are available to staff at no cost throughout your shift. Fridges and cool rooms are available on track for staff that want to bring their own meals.
Please see your supervisor during shift for your break time. Please advise your supervisor before leaving your post - eg Toilet Breaks, Rubbish runs etc. Breaks are paid or not paid as per your relevant award.
Please bring as little personal belongings to work as possible. Staff will be required to leave their bags in a locker (if available) or in a staff cloak room with HR staff during their shift. You will have access to this via a ticket system during your breaks only. NO MOBILE PHONES CAN BE TAKEN TO WORK DURING YOUR SHIFT. Please provide the HR contact to family for emergencies on race days.
Pays are processed weekly each Thursday for hours worked the week prior (Monday to Sunday). Eg if you work Tuesday 1st November 2016, your timesheet will be submitted for payment and processed on Thursday 10th November with payments made into employees bank accounts on the same day or early on Friday 11th November 2016. Any payroll queries, change of bank details, Super Fund changes can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Our payroll office works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week and will reply to emails on these 3 days only.
Smoking is not permitted outside of your allocated break times. Smokers are not allowed to leave their duties during shift for quick smoke breaks.
Alcohol & Drugs
Staff are not permitted to drink alcohol whilst on shift. Staff suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol maybe requested to undergo a drug and alcohol test. Breaches of this policy may result in immediate termination of employment
Staff are not permitted to use their phones during their shift. Please provide family with the HR Contact mobile for contact during events.
Staff are not permitted to park in the Members Car park off Dick Ward Drive on Melbourne Cup Day - Tuesday 1st November 2016. There is parking in various streets such as Ross Smith Avenue, Playford Street and Brown Street, close to the course. Centrefield Parking will not be open. Please see HR Staff at the Staff Entry for your wrist band on arrival at the track. You will need a wrist band or appropriate pass to move between areas on course during race days.
In the event of an evacuation - All Staff and Patrons on Trackside will be directed to the Muster Point in the Members Carpark in front of the STAFF ENTRY gate. Staff and Patrons in The Atrium, Pearl Bar, Members Stand and Committee Rooms will be asked to move to the carpark near the back of the Day Stables. All Staff and Patrons in Centrefield will be moved into the public parking area behind the marquees. Please follow your Supervisor's instructions in the event of an evacuation.
Each Bar has a First Aid Kit. The Supervisor of each bar will have a list of the First Aid Officers on course with contact numbers. St Johns Ambulance will also be on track every race day near the finish line between races. St Johns Ambulance will also be set up near Gate 1 on Darwin Cup Day. Automated External Defibrillator machines are located in the Members Clubhouse and Ted's Bar during all races days. Both HR Offices on course also have First Aid kits.
