The jewel in the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival’s crown is the Qantas Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball. The open air black tie event will again wow the crowds in 2017, for the preparations are well under way for the largest outdoor gala ball in the Southern Hemisphere.
Held on the lawns of SKYCITY Darwin’s Little Mindil beach the guests will salute to the excitement of Carnival time under the stars; enjoying offerings of world class entertainment and sumptuous food selections.
This year’s entertainment is headlined by ARIA award winning singer and recording artist, Anthony Callea; lighting up the event as one of Australia’s favourite and most recognised performers.
Callea will pave the way for the Dan Hamill Experience ensuring guests dance the night away to big band, Motown medleys.
The evening will be hosted by SKY Racing’s Greg Radley who will lead the charge in celebrating Monday’s 61st running of the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup.
“The Qantas Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball is such a unique and special event”, said Darwin Turf Club CEO Keith Stacy.
“It’s a true showcase of the best Territory hospitality for locals and visitors to the Top End who revel in the warm Dry Season evening under the night’s sky. It’s the perfect lead into the crescendo of the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup”, he said.
“The Darwin Turf Club will again be donating $10,000 cash to a local charity at the event, and we would like to encourage local organisations to put in a submission for the chance to receive the donation”, said Mr Stacy.
